How about Muesli? Most American cereal is too sweet, including the granola! Also, my wife is allergic to gluten and therefore needs gluten free bread.
We now have muesli, soy milk and gluten-free baked goods available on request.
My room was too warm! Not very environmentally friendly!
Our heating system is actually very efficient, though it is fairly primitive, with only 4 zones. This means that we cannot provide individual controls of temperature in guest rooms. We keep the thermostats at 68 degrees (F) and hope that guests who are too warm will open windows a crack, and those who are too cool will use extra blankets, or ask the front desk for a supplemental heater. The variability is due to both the location of the room and the particular sensibilities of the guests!
Do you have a car seat I could borrow to use in the cab to the airport?
What a great idea! We have now acquired a car seat and arranged with Candiani Transportation to return it to use after airport trips. Please request 24 hours prior to your departure.
I would appreciate help carrying my bags up to my fourth floor room!
We have staff available during the day time to assist you with luggage, should you need help. During the evening, the staff may or may not be able to assist you. If you know you will be on an upper floor, and know you will need help, please try to arrive before 5pm.

Harding House Celebrates Boston's Afro-Brazilian Culture
Harding House general manager Lauren helped celebrate Boston's vibrant Brazilian culture as a dancer in the Afro-Brazilian show, "Axe." Held at the Jorge Jernandez Cultural Center, the show, led by local musician Marcos Santos, featured live music and dance ranging from the folkloric to the popular and contemporary. Said Lauren, "It was an honor to perform with so many talented musicians and dancers, and to bring attention to the thriving Brazilian community that helps make Boston and Cambridge so unique."

Tsetan Dolkar stands up for Tibet
Tsetan Dolkar has been a housekeeper and Irving House for many years. She is one of several Tibetans working with us since we became a sponsor of some of the original community sent by the Dalai Lama to ensure the survival of Tibetan culture outside of Tibet. Recently Tsetan shaved her head as a sign of mourning those Tibetans who have died at the hands of the Chinese in Tibetan riots.

Friday the Thirteenth, our 17th Birthday!
Irving House turned 17 on Friday, July 13th. In fact, our very first day of business in 1990 was Friday The Thirteenth. We see this as an auspicious, powerful day. Those staff who were here shared a lunch from Petsi Pies, our favorite bakery. Zoia, in center in the green shirt, took pictures, except when her son, Anguel took this one--

Irving House gets EPA's Energy Star Certification
After a careful review of our energy use throughout the building, an engineer certified our energy use to be nearly 100% efficient. We will continue to seek ways to reduce our energy use, of course but this national certification, given to only 3,000 buildings throughout the US, is, just now, a feather in our cap!

Awarded by the Massachusetts Lodging Association for 2005: Zoia Krastanova, our Assistant Manager was honored in the Small Property category. A glorious celebration, and another inspiration to continue her good work.
