The artists whose work graces the guest rooms and common areas of our inn come from different places. Some have stayed with us in Cambridge, others we have come to know through our search for images that delight and uplift our guests. We move their work around, so that guests who return to stay with us in Cambridge see different images once in a while.
When we need to buy products or services, we always seek local vendors for our Cambridge guesthouse first. The connections we have with this list of vendors are long-standing as we are loyal to those who provide excellent services or products.
Irving House at Harvard is located midway among three of Cambridge’s busy squares: Harvard Square, Inman Square and Central Square. Each of these commercial areas hosts many good restaurants. The pandemic changed the landscape of culinary delights, but we are seeing the revival of some and renewal of recently empty spaces. We hope you will find some delicious options for your dining pleasure all within walking distance of our front door.
Cambridge is home to several museums, green spaces, theaters and clubs. Many are within walking distance of Irving House. We hope you will find time to enrich your stay by visiting them!
As our full name implies, Irving House is close to Harvard University’s main campus, Harvard Yard. We are also close to Lesley University, and MIT. Across the Charles River, easily accessible by the subway (called “the T”) you can get to Boston University, Boston College, Emerson College, Simmons College and Suffolk University among other institutions of higher learning.
Irving House at Harvard is close to Harvard Square, and across that is Harvard Square, the commercial center where theaters, restaurants and shops all offer hours and days of diversions. Irving House is also within walking distance of Inman Square, which has a more local vibe. It, too, has great restaurants, pubs and shops. Not far away is Central Square which is also a transit center with buses going to adjacent towns. There you can find a variety of shopping, dining and theater options that suit most needs. Kendall Square and Porter Square are also not far from us. The options are endless~!
