MLK day is approaching soon on January 15th. Many people have the day off and some choose to spend that time with family, take advantage of events, or volunteer. Throughout Cambridge and Boston there are many events and opportunities to use the day off in a positive way. If you find yourself in the area, check out these events!
Art and Performances
Museum of Fine Arts: Usually $25 for adults, each year the MFA opens up for free on MLK Day.
Institute of Contemporary Art: Usually closed on Mondays, the ICA also opens up for free.
Youth Symphony Orchestra at BU: Hosted by BU, the Youth Symphony Orchestra performs at this special celebration.
Boston’s Children’s Choir: This tribute concert takes place at Symphony Hall. A great way to commemorate!
Other Events and Volunteer Opportunities
Many Helping Hands Day of Service: Many Helping Hands is a Cambridge organization that originated in 2011 to bring people together on MLK. 2018 will be the 8th year and will be meeting at City Hall in Central Square.
Cambridge MLK Commemoration: A free and public even in Cambridge to to celebrate MLK’s works and writings.
Boston Cares: Boston Care organizes “a day on, not off” each year. Kid friendly!
